About her
My adult life officially began in late 1999 when I met my husband "online" through Yahoo. We tied the knot a year and a half later and still go to our "face to face meeting" spot every year; the Starbucks parking lot on Rte 110 in Farmingdale, NY.Presently, I am a stay at home mom and live in a humble abode literally around the block from where I grew up on Long Island; and I seriously, never, thought THAT would happen! I tried living in "the city" as a young 20's chic but it just didn't fly.
The major plateau or crisis peak of my life thus far, that has made me who I am today happened in June of 2001. I survived 2 brain surgeries, a left temporal lobectomy and hippocampectomy at NYU.
My life; my outlook, my personality and take on things, literally changed since these events. I'm a lot less serious and "tight" as many have known me to be from back in the day. I unfortunately have difficulty finding words when completing sentences when I am tired or overwhelmed. This has probably been the worst "side-effect" of having the surgeries as I feel as if people think I'm not too intelligent due to my inability to complete thoughts.
Epilepsy doesn't just give you a few minutes here and there of a physical ailment. It affects who you are, where are going in life and how people look at you when they are informed you have this oldest, most misunderstood illness known to mankind.
I am now active in advocacy groups to educate society on this condition as well as the depression and discrimination that go along with it.
If you have any questions about this part of my life, PLEASE don't be afraid to ask me! I am open to all questions and comments on this major aspect of who I have become as a person.
