Youniverse

I like to think of myself as intellectual, though that may be my ego talking. I have a bipolar ego. Sometimes I feel like the smartest, handsomest, most virile example of humanity, and sometimes I wonder why people put up with me.
I'm fascinated by philosophy. I'll read anything from Existentialism to Taoism to Platonic metaphysics. At the end of the day though, I'm never able to shake my own agnosticism (which is nice because I can read Tarot cards without any atheistic qualms).
Oh, and I do love to debate. I love people who disagree with my opinions, so long as they can disagree in a rational manner. "Because God says so!" doesn't work. ^_^

I'm in love with nature. I don't know what it is about being immersed in a forest or any natural place, but it makes me really, really, really happy. As such, hiking and camping and off-roading and exploring are all things I love to do. This falls in line with my quiet nature. I'm very much an observer and a thinker.

I've realized some of the nature of the beast. I'm not a fan of American living in general, and I'm not a fan of the American people. I'm talking about the majority; I've nothing against individuals. The problem is, I don't know it's that much better anywhere else. Society is the heart of the issue. I've been reading Karl Marx and Plato and Adam Smith, and I just don't think it works. Of course, I'm no revolutionary. I'm not the type. Besides, it's all pretty futile if we just replace one corrupt and failing society with another corrupt and failing society. It's like performing a heart transplant with another decrepit and cancerous organ. But that's not to say one shouldn't try...

Reading, hiking/camping, thinking, dreaming, messing around on my guitar, reading tarot cards, listening to music, etc...

I'm a quiet person, and I really like acoustic music. Indie is great, and classic rock is cool too. I'd list my favorite bands, but they're really too many to get into here.

Campy old movies are awesome! I also like movies that are deep and/or psychological, you know, the ones that give you something to talk about after the movie is over. Good action movies are ok, and romantic movies aren't bad every now and again. And you gotta love a good anime.

Great movies: Labyrinth, Princess Mononoke, Serenity, Mad Max, Southern Comfort, Harold & Maude, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, The Nightmare Before Christmas, MASH, Quest for Fire, Death Race 2000, Children of Men, Soylent Green, Dune, The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai, Akira, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, American Werewolf in Paris, Stardust, The Last Unicorn, The Dark Crystal, The Phantom of the Opera, Tank Girl, and any Monty Python! (Holy Grail, Life of Brian, etc...)
